A Great Weekend

I had a wonderful weekend! My sister and her two little boys came on Thursday. She surprised me by getting here at 11:00 in the morning, so we were able to go to Athens for lunch. Long John Silvers, my sister and Teddy love it. It was yummy!

Then we came home before going to the prayer service. We didn't get home in time for Candi to get her nap, She whined all evening. ughhh!

On Friday we just chilled at home and my mom and Gene came down Friday evening because my grandma was still with me.

On Saturday Gene took us all out for lunch. YUM! Brenda had to go home on Saturday afternoon, so sad! Uncle Gaylord went to Heaven so we were at the Funeral Home for a while Saturday evening.

On Sunday we were back in Marietta for both services, we love worshipping with our brothes and sisters there. Sis Shaw had another wonderful meal. She is a gracious hostess.

My Friend

What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful? Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden? Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour still our refuge; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer. In His arms He'll take and shield thee. Thou wilt find a solace there.

I am so thankful that Jesus Christ is my friend. I love my friends, but there is none like Jesus. What do people do without Him? He has proven Himself to me time and time again. There have been times when I thought someone was my friend and I would find out they weren't a friend at all, but Jesus is a true friend. I am amazed that He cares about the smallest detail of my life. He cares when we are having a bad day, He cares when we struggle with an issue in our life, He cares when we hurt from words someone spoke about us, He cares when we are accused of things for which we are not guilty, He cares when we lose a loved one to death, He cares when we lose a sister or brother to sin, He just Cares! I love the times when I can go to Him with my pain, fears, hurts, and sorrow and feel His Spirit there to comfort. And I love when I can go to Him with my accomplishments, joy, happiness, and laughter. And feel His smile. So many times I have felt Him as my refuge in the storm, He has been my solace so many times. What a Friend!

Easter Weekend

This weekend was really nice. We got to see some of our NC family on Saturday when we met at Burger King for a birthday party for Travis Spangler and Aunt Ruth Moody. Then on Saturday afternoon Canaan and Candi colored their eggs, Candi really enjoyed that. She had no memories of doing it last year. LOL

On Easter Sunday we went to Marietta, OH where Steve spoke in both services. We had a lovely time and a wonderful meal.

I love Easter! I love the thought that Jesus came to earth and gave his life so that I could have a full life in Him. I love that on the third day He rose so that the plan of salvation would be complete. I love that He then acsended back to the Father but left His Holy Spirit to abide here with us, to empower us and comfort us. I love that Easter is in the Spring when everything is coming back to life and symbolizes Resurrection. I love Easter!

The Power of Prayer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

I will forever be in awe of God and the Power that there is in prayer. I am amazed at what God is doing thru prayer. I am witnessing miracles before my eyes thru unified prayer. There has been a sweet, quiet Spirit each night that comes and meets with us. His presence can be felt so near.

My father-in-law and Bro. Hunter are kindred spirits. God has used them both to pray during this time for my husband and his healing. I am so amazed at the way God is touching Steve. He is able to do things that he could not do before. We see improvements daily. God is so good to us, better than I could ever say with words. All honor goes to our wonderful Heavenly Father for all He is doing for us.

A Woman of Great Faith

My grandmother is a great woman of faith. She has not had alot in her life and has had some hard knocks, but her faith has always remained strong. It is amazing to me that even in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease when she forgets what she has eaten for breakfast, she does not forget her faith. When she talks about God and his goodness to her tears still well up in her eyes. She is and has been a Godly influence in my life. My grandmother is GRAND.

Candi's Hair

Candi's hair is growing!! YAYYY!! It is getting long enough to finally do something with, I am so excited. Her hair is thick too. Jenny did a french braid last night and it stayed in, and looked neat. The last time I tried to braid her hair it wouldn't stay. But I am looking forward to trying different styles.

Women Of Worth

Tonight was our Women of Worth meeting. We didn't have a very large number tonight. It was rainy and some had to work, study for test... ect.

I love getting together with my Christian sisters. Another benefit of serving Christ... The sisters I have in Him.

Laura Spangler and her New Baby Girl Tallie Reese Spangler

On Thursday I went to Canton to pick up Travis so he could spend the week with Canaan and to pick up my grandma because my mom and Gene were going to Michigan for the weekend. I got to see Laura's new baby girl Tallie Reese Spangler. She is so precious. Candi loves babies and got to hold her too. She looks like Trever but I could see the other children in her too. What a blessing new life brings to us.

Too Much Snow

The weekend was filled with Snow. It started on Friday and didn't let up. I once again packed a bag, knowing we would not get back home Friday night after service. We camped out at Steve's parents on the entire weekend. The kids had a blast all day Saturday playing in the snow, sledding down the big hill, and building a snow-woman they named Snowbelle. A family friend, Alice played outside with them and helped them with the snow-woman. We weren't able to get home until Monday. Now it is getting warmer and the snow is melting. YAYYY!! Hopefully spring is almost here. Candi loves playing outdoors and had so much fun sledding.

Happy Belated Birthday To my Little Sister

My little sister's birthday was actually Saturday, March 8. But because we got so much snow on Friday I could not get home and was not able to post a blog in her honor. So I am doing it late. Not because I don't love her, but because of Mother Nature.

I was 3 years old when God sent her to our home. Though I do not have alot of memories of that time. I have so many of our growing up years. We had so many Fun times together. We did everything together. She was and is my BESTEST friend! Believe it or not she was very quiet when we were growing up, and I was the Mouthy one. Somewhere one day we switched roles. LOL I Love you Brenda! Glad you finally joined me in the 30's!!!!!

Happy Birthday Melissa

Melissa is my childhood best friend. We have shared so many things thru the years. Alot of laughs, like the little man in the photo booths.LOL And alot of tears, both losing a parent the same year. We planned our weddings together, hers being in July 1994 and mine in October 1994. I was her maid of honor, she was my matron of honor. When she married her husband she then became my cousin, because she married one of my bestest cousins, Lennie.

We went through our first pregnancy together, my son Canaan was born February 4 and her son Tyler was born February 14. I could go on and on but I won't. We share so many memories together. She is blonde, need I say more.LOL I love you Melissa. Happy Birthday!

Huckabee Is Out

McCain is the nominee for the Republican party, but he is not really a conservative. I thought it was so funny when he had a slip of the tongue at one of his rallies in Texas. "I am a liberal Republican." One of the only times he has spoke the truth.LOL

My choice would have been Mike Huckabee. He was not afraid to let the American people know where he stood on the issues of Abortion, Gay Marriage, and his belief in God who created the universe. I voted for Huckabee and though it appears that I lost my vote. I do not regret my decision.

My Hero Celebrates Another Birthday in Heaven

If my dad had lived he would have been 58 years old today. What a great man, he was a wonderful friend, brother, husband, and FATHER.

My sister and I were 'spoiled' by the best, he was so concerned (worried) about us and our welfare, both spiritual and physical. He was so unselfish. I miss so much his little kindnesses to us. He was so thoughtful, and I just loved when he would stop in school before lunch and bring us a nice hot lunch from McDonald's and we could take our cold lunch home. That is just the kind of dad he was.

He loved to sing, it was his passion, and what a singer he was. He could sing and sing and hardly come up for air. Some of my favorite times were on road trips when we would all sing together in the car. He is by far my favorite singer, and my Hero. Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you.
